On June 12, 2022, the next XXIII International folklore festival "Trinity Round dances in the Oryol Polesie" will take place. The best collectives of the Orel region, nearby regions, as well as abroad will gather in the vast clearing of the village of Lgov in the Khotynetsky district. Festive festivities open mass round dances on the Trinity meadow near the national Park "Oryol Polesie".
The international folklore festival "Trinity Round Dances in the Oryol Polesie" is an integral part of the preservation and revival of the traditional folk culture of the Oryol region and the Turquoise Ring of Russia, one of the most beautiful Orthodox holidays, which has been vividly celebrated in the Oryol region for more than 20 years.
This year, two stage platforms will be deployed, as well as a podium for the demonstration of models in traditional folk costumes. 15 local creative venues of various subjects, 27 municipal farmsteads, sports and entertainment, horse riding, Russian swings, as well as a large parking area will be organized for the guests of the holiday.

8.30 - Festive divine service in the Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity in the village of Lgov.
13.00 - Tournament of mowers "Easy scythe in the hands of a good fellow"
14.00 - The grand opening of the festival in the Central Clearing. The action will be preceded by a "Patterned Trinity Round Dance". Reconstruction of the traditional Trinity rite "Curl, Birch!".

The traditions of wearing and the order of putting on a women's costume and its elements will be presented in an interactive form, accompanied by the concert program "Step into the Ethnospace".

Throughout the festivities in the Oryol Polesie, it will be possible to visit the zone of folk crafts and crafts. Masters of folk arts and crafts from the Orel and Kursk regions will present their works. Among them are embroidery Orlovsky spis, lace weaving, weaving, Pleshkov and Chernyshinsky clay toys, black-flattened ceramics, rag dolls, weaving from plant materials, wood carving. There will also be an exhibition and fair of decorative and applied art products from the regions of the Central Federal District.
Oryol Region - home of Russian bison
The Oryol Polesie National Park has become home to the largest population of bison in Russia. Today, almost 500 representatives of the ancient tribe of forest giants live here.
The unique landscape and even microclimate of the "Oryol Polesie" is due to the legacy of ancient glaciers, primarily the Moscow Glacier. Coniferous and coniferous-deciduous forests are interspersed with areas of forest-steppe vegetation, typically taiga animal species coexist with representatives of steppe fauna.
Standing on the sand sands, the park is unique in its diversity and abundance of fauna. Here you can meet a khokhulya, a podaliriya, a big booze, a deer beetle, a hazel dormouse or a carpenter bee.
The majestic silence of the Polessky forest gave birth to the following lines of Turgenev: "The view of a huge, embracing forest, the whole sky, the view of the "Polesie" resembles the view of the sea. And the same impressions are aroused by them: the same primal, untouched force spreads wide and imperiously in front of the viewer."
The characters of Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev's "Notes of the Hunter" lived in the Oryol Polesie. According to legend, a large treasure of Kudeyar is hidden in the park – the legendary robber and wizard, ataman, a character of Russian folklore of the XVI century and the brother of Ivan the Terrible.
The place of the battle of Ilya Muromets and the Robber Nightingale
Epics have preserved the legend that the defender of the Russian land, the hero Ilya Muromets, defeated the Robber Nightingale in the upper reaches of the river to get out in the tract of Nine Oaks on the territory of the current national park "Oryol Polesie".
From here, the robber and his gang attacked merchant caravans that used the ferry to get from the Desna-Dnepr basin to the Oka-Volga basin.
There is a legend that somewhere here on the outskirts of the village of Nine Oaks, after a fight with a Robber Nightingale, Ilya Muromets lost his heroic sword.
The village of Lgov was first mentioned in the scribal books in 1626-1627. But an ordinary person became aware of it from the work of Ivan Turgenev "Notes of a hunter": "Lgov is a large steppe village with a very ancient stone single-domed church and two mills on the marshy river Rosote. This river about five versts from Lgov turns into a wide pond, on the edges and in some places in the middle overgrown with thick reeds, in the Orel - Mayer. On this pond, in the backwaters or lulls between the reeds, countless ducks of all possible breeds were bred and kept: quack, half-quack, shiloh-tailed, teals, dives, etc."
Ivan Sergeyevich was very fond of hunting here, and, by the way, a funny incident happened to him on the Lgovsky pond. The boat on which the hunters were, gradually let the water through. It was poured out of the bucket. Carried away by successful shooting, they stopped pouring out water, the boat filled up with water and turned over when the hunters took the dead duck out of the lake. Fortunately, this did not happen in a deep place, and the adventure ended safely.

Residents of the village of Lgov carefully preserve the legend of the preserved house in which the prototype of Gerasim from "Mumu" lived, which they are happy to show to guests and tourists.
Turgenev Polesie Museum
Many people are not indifferent to the literary and local history museum "Turgenevskoe Polesie" in the village of Ilyinskoye near the Trinity meadow. The participants of the folklore ensemble "Kalinovy Sadok" put their soul into the museum. And it is not surprising that the guests will be greeted by sincere Russian songs, the originality of the village way of life and healing viburnum jam.
Zoological complex
